We will have our 11th annual PJ and Blanket drive Nov. 27th thru Dec. 15th. This is organized every year by an LOL alumn, Nick Sidorowicz, who is a now senior at Northport High School. The drive benefits children from the Suffolk County Child Advocacy Center at the Pat and Mary Bagnato Place for Kids. New children's PJs, blankets, and winter accessories will be collected at the Main Office.
In Nick's words: When kids are abused and they are taken out of their homes, they can't take anything with them. They are taken to a hospital or a police station and they can't even take their favorite toy. When they leave their, their clothes are usually taken away from them too and are usually given some old hand-me-downs to wear. It is very scary for children to be around strangers and then have your clothes taken away. With new PJs and blankets, they have something that is their own. This is why I am collecting times. I have been doing this donation drive since I was 8 at Love of Learning.
