Who: 4th, 5th and 6th Graders
What: Bike Trip
When: Monday, October 23 (Bring bikes to school on Thursday, Oct 19th)
Why: To give the children a sense of the geography of Long Island - as well as a certain amount of local history. This is always considered the best trip of the year by the children and provides plenty of opportunity for follow-up writing and discussion.
Where: Greenbelt Trail
How: The trip will be on a section of the Nassau/Suffolk Greenbelt trail starting just North of Old Country road and heading South to Bethpage State Park. This part would be about 5 miles and the kids will ride their bikes. After a short rest we will load up the kids and bikes and drive to Cedar Creek Park in Seaford. From there we will ride the bicycle path to Jones beach. We'll end with lunch at the beach. This will be an additional 5 miles. From there we will drive home and be back in time for bus dismissal.
To do this trip we will need a certain amount of parent support. We will have 38 kids to drive to the 2 locations.
Join us on the ride - ride bikes with us along the trail
Drive - one volunteer is needed to drive a pick-up truck full of bikes and other volunteers are needed to help with car transportation
